FEA Mesh

 HyGEARS provides a user friendly interface to Finite Element Analysis preprocessing, such as :

  • tooth and hub mesh definition,
  • boundary conditions,
  • load application. 

The top-right figure shows a thin rimmed hypoid pinion that has been meshed using HyGEARS’  integrated FEA pre-processor. Color coding of the elements allows judging where they lie in relation one to another.

 

A HyGEARS FEA Model  :

  • is based on the actual tooth definition from the inputted machine settings;
  • can contain up to 30000 elements and 500000 nodes, whichever comes first;
  • can contain up to 20 Load Cases, each with up to 20 different applied loads.

The bottom-right figure shows a "Block Mode" of several meshed teeth. Block Mode enhances the visibility of the elements and allows better judging of element shape and proportions.
